The International Forum on Super Insulation Materials (IFSIM), initiated by Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, brings together scientists specializing in super insulation materials from around the world. Targeting Chinese manufacturers of vacuum insulation panels and aerogels, and focusing on advanced insulation materials with a thermal conductivity below 0.026 W/m·K (the thermal conductivity of still air), IFSIM is a high-level international conference aimed at promoting the greater role of super insulation materials in achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. Established in 2018 and held annually, IFSIM has now been convened nine times, featuring over 200 high-caliber keynote speeches, invited presentations, and academic sessions. The forum facilitates multi-level exchanges and collaborations between universities and enterprises, as well as among enterprises themselves, promotes and showcases new technologies, processes, products, and achievements in the field of super insulation materials, and enhances the international influence and industrial competitiveness of these materials.

Since 2025, under the theme of “Thermal Insulation, Fire Protection, Flame Retardancy×Energy Efficiency, Carbon Reduction, and Performance Enhancement”, IFSIM has continuously explored new application fields for thermal insulation materials, guiding super thermal insulation materials to play an even greater role across diverse sectors—including the low-altitude economy, new energy vehicles, data centers, construction, cold chain logistics, energy storage, nuclear energy, and batteries.

To enhance IFSIM’s international profile, the 10^th IFSIM conference is relocated from Taicang to London, and is being jointly organized with IVIS2027 conference hosted by Brunel University of London and co-organized by the China Thermal Insulation and Energy-Saving Materials Association, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the Jiangsu Collaborative Innovation Center for Advanced Inorganic Functional Composite Materials.
